Hi, I have a Mk7.5 e-Golf with Active Info Display. It was originally in miles. Through the vehicle settings, I changed the units to KM, but I ended up with the speedo showing MPH on the dial and KM/H at the bottom (see red boxes in photo).

Is there any way that this can be changed for both to show KM/H please (using tools like VCDS or OBD-Eleven)?

    Thanks for your help

I've just run into the same issue with my 2018 Passat. I also assumed that changing the units would change the dial to kph, and not just provide an inset digital kph display. I checked with a technician at the VW dealer and he confirmed that there's no way to do this, not even he could do it with their equipment.

I find this a weird backward step, potentially dangerous. If I glance at the speedo I might be momentarily confused by the conflicting info I see - dial in mph, digital readout in kph. I've yet to drive on the continent in this car so experience may show I'm wrong. All other cars I've ever had have dual markings on the speedo - you'd think with all the functionality available in the Active Info Display they'd be able to flip between the two. Makes no sense.

And then it occurred to me, could this be deliberate - to discourage UK models to be sold on the continent, and vice versa? I bet deep down there is the ability to do this, it's just hidden. Would VW really go to the expense of producing different products for the separate markets when they could produce one? I don't think so.

Hey, good morning. There is an easy way to do it. OBD11 - log in, go to the cluster settings, and change from mph to km/h (or vice versa). The gauge would be in whichever units you select, while the digit at the bottom would switch to the units of choice that you choose from the infotainment system. In my case, I left them both km/h. It's a 2 minute job.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for that, I thought it must be possible. Sounds like the guy at the VW dealer was either not telling the truth, or plain ignorant.

I called my local Audi/VW specialist (used to look after my previous Audi) to see if they could do this for me. They could - at a price - but did point out that any changes like this leave a footprint, and as the car is still under warranty, perhaps I'll wait until it isn't.

Welcome. I did it on mine (it's still under warranty). However, this is just a setting and shouldn't void the warranty.
