Dull banging sound when throttle pusg

Hello all!

i recently purchased an A4 B9 TDI 190 Quattro, and I have noticed that each time i release o push the throttle , with the same gear on, I get this dull banging sound, as if two parts are hiting each other. Audi sais it’s normal...I find it extremely anoying.

Did anyone else noticed this, and do you think is normal?

Driving, standing or both?

It is only driving. If I drive at say 50 mph , in 6th gear, and I lift the foot of the throttle, the car stays in the same gear, and there is this thud and I can even feel a small shock/impact somewhere in the transmission. when pressing back the throttle (gently, so the car does not do kick-down, stays in the same gear) there is a similar thud and shock, only a bit more pronounced. It can be avoided if press/release throttle extremely, extremely soft.

It happens at almost any speed and in any gear (the car had DSG gearbox and Quattro)

Dealer mechanic said it is probably because of Quattro differential engaging and disengaging the rear traction, and he also did not seem convinced this is exactly normal behavior. But they could not find anything wrong, and after checking with Audi they said the car is in perfect state and this is normal behavior for this model.

How many Km’s and has it has any work done?

It has 15000 km now and was manufactured in July 2017. I bought it at 7000 km, and noticed this shock/noise after a few days. I supose it was there since new.No work has ben done on it, acordong to the seller, and confirmed by Audi garage.

The Audi garage tested the car, and told me that the car is as good as new and that his behaviour is absolutely normal. To prove it, they gave me another similar car to drive, and indeed it had a similar behaviour. Unfortunately this does not make it less anoying.

So, I am now trying to understand if this is indeed a normal behaviour, and all similar cars have it, or it is an issue that only some cars may have and maybe I can get Audi do do something about it.
