Vw golf 2.0tdi gt 59 plate mk6 wont start

Hi all, just recently bought this car in May from a garage and it’s had problems since. The garage owner keeps fixing it but clearly not very well as it again has failed to start. (AUTO) When I turn the key it struggles to start for about 3-4 seconds and then cuts out. It sounds like it’s going to start but won’t and this was the problem before. He had it for a week said it was fixed and here we are with the same problem a few weeks later. I’ve got warranty so going to let them have a go but only £1000 worth so wondered if anyone knows what it is and how much it might cost to repair? Thanks

These engines have a lot of fuel pump issues, usually the in tank pump. People replace this and connect up the lines the wrong way around as this looks correct. Then the car will still run and drive fine but sometimes be a pig to start, I have seen this six times now.
