Took it to the local Audi dealer today and they had it for one hour. They say the slave control modul is gone. New module and calibration is needed. Hopefully this will solve the problem. ill let you know. Thanks for help!

Are you letting Audi change it charge you a fortune? a 10 min scan to verify its faulty is not chargeable at an hour! You can buy a used unit from fleabay and fit it your self. You wont even need to calibrate it.

Are you sure a new calibration is not needed? I am not an expert and I dont know how to change the module.

I need to replace my control unit... I’ve noticed on eBay say searching for part 4G0 907 566D two additional numbers for example 0060 H03, these are often different. Anyone know what they are, and if they matter?

Really don’t want to take this to Audi, the charge is unreasonable for the time to fit these units... I have vagcom, so can code if required. This thread suggests calibration isn’t required 👍. Although Audi tell me if the number is removed that stops use until calibration, any truth in that?

Any useful pointers for this job appreciated.

    Cheers

So as its your side assist module at fault you can replace it as long as you match your original part number with the correct letter. the additional numbers after refer to the software and hardware version at the time of manufacture.
If its a used unit you wont need to have it calibrated unless for some reason it wont recognise it. I have fitted these and always managed to get away from any calibration. Nay new unit will always need paramatising calibrating hence dealer or specialist option

Brilliant. £200 fix vs Audi’s £2000. Thanks Morksi.
For reference and others reading later, please can you clarify highlighted green on the att image is what you mean by “original part number with the correct letter”, and red “additional numbers after”?

    Thanks again.

Guys, I'm starting to get these 'acc and brake guard unavailable' messages more often now. What's the best thing for me to purchase to scan these to find out the issue. I see vagcom and hex net and a third kind of scanner reader being used as well, what's recommended for occasional home use that's not too technical or personal. Thanks for your help.

Just returning to this thread (after sometime) to update... Rather disappointingly, I didn't have the luck of Morski, having replaced the J770, VCDS now reads: "3C: Lane Change - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation". I've found on another forum calibration will be required, I've linked the thread because it's an interesting read, two ways to calibrate 1/ Pay the garage 2/ create your own doppler machine out of a fan and calibrate at home...

I think your options are: Get it calibrated professionally at around £250 iirc, make your own calibration board setup or buy a matching pair of modules that have been removed from the same car which is a 50/50 chance.
