Evening folks. As some of you know, I've had a myriad of issues with my SQ7. It sh@t itself AGAIN three weeks ago which was the final straw. Have formally rejected the car and they have come back with the following options:

-I walk away with my deposit back, pro rata, which works out to about £12,000.
Pros: Can go and buy another car without the issue of having to worry about a trade in.
Cons: Probably can't do a factory order due to the WLTP testing, unless I want to wait until well into next year. This means I take a stock car and can't get the spec I want (Edinburgh Audi have five gorgeous Q8s I looked into but the residuals are shocking, way less than the SQ7, so the PCP monthly payment was ridiculous).

Planing to go tomorrow to look at a F-Pace, XC90, Range Rover (full fat, Sport, Disco), and new Touareg.

-I get a brand new replacement SQ7 and keep paying the same monthly payment
Pros: I get the still drive around in the best car I've ever owned. Simplest and quickest option. I still have that V8 engine and the power and noise that comes from it. The novelty of have that in my life has never waned. Not once.
Cons: Not same spec. as my original SQ7 - missing adaptive cruise, configurable ambient lighting, park assist, surround camera, heated steering wheel, and side assist/lane keeping BUT it has trailer pack, black pack (with Daytona Grey), and carbon inlays. Also the list price has also gone up a bit since I got mine. I am also going to be locked into a new PCP which will means I will still have it way after the new facelift etc., which is planned for next year apparently.

If I'm being honest I just want an SQ7, but I need to be semi-sensible and consider the options.

Any thoughts, experience, or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Cheers
    Scott

IMHO... The F-Pace and Disco Sport are not in same class regarding space, RR Sport not much bigger. You’re really talking a full fat RR or Disco 5 for the same space. I sold my Disco Sport to buy the Q7 because of several issues including more space, speed but build quality on the newer JLRs is an issue generally (Tata cost cutting, great style/marketing but at expense of engineering etc). Maybe less so for FFRR and RRS. XC90 and Touareg would be more direct comparators for non-JLR. Doubt you’re going to get the same poke unless its a V8 crazy price FFRR / RRS.

Sorry to hear this Gyro - I thought I had problems with mine but touch wood it’s behaving itself.

Reading what you’ve put normally I’d jump in to a Q8 but would never (ok never say never) buy a brand new model again until it’s in to a new model year.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with another SQ7.

The thing to think about is there must be a facelift somewhere around the corner - I can’t actually remember when the A4/5 new models came out vs Q7 as they are apparently being facelifted at some point next year.

Spec wise if you do settle for stock car work out what is the minimum spec you would want as you don’t want to regret giving something up.

WLTP is a mess and has delayed sisters ‘new’ replacement car.

I think once you’ve looked at the other cars you’ll be back for the SQ, I have a colleague who has a XC who likes it but regrets it due to issues he’s had but it’s one of the earlier mark 2s.

In fact was it Papereyes whose gone in to XC from Q7 - his views will be good.

Range Rover Sport - stunning car, but think interior infotainment etc may put you off?

Good luck with the decision making but I think you’ll be sticking with the SQ (but what do I know )

Like you say, the novelty doesn't wear off. Personally been looking in to the Q8 as my next car, but I do love the practicality of 7 seats, so look forward to see if there's some decent changes in the facelift which must be around the corner. Can't you find a decent spec SQ7 somewhere? There must be a few loaded ones about. Presumably you have some bargaining power due to your bad experience so I'd be looking getting like for like. Remember, it's not you who should be compromising due to something that's not your fault (but you know that anyway). Good luck either way

Stick with the Sq7 is my view... But yes surely you can shop around the dealer network for a well loaded one? That should be the very least they should do.

Anything missing we coukd retrofit it

    Best of luck

    Andy.
