right so, decided to have an investigate into my air intake system & airbox etc and found some things im not sure about..

first up .. why does my intake duct right at the front have a big hole in? when ive found others that dont .. am I right in guessing the one WITHOUT the hole would provide better/colder air? and more induction noise? (i like noise)

secondly, I'm guessing this partially covered hole and plastic pipe is drainage just in case water gets in?

and finally, this mesh like plastic grate in there.. is this there for further noise reduction?

It's just dawned on me after wondering why there is no replies .. not everyone might be able to see the pictures if they haven't done the photobucket fix! .. to do this go to the chrome store on google and search for "photobucket hot link fix" add that to your extensions and then you're done, meaning you can enjoy all the old photos that dissapeared as well

It's mainly filtration. Big holes turning into smaller holes then the air filter. Basically prevents leaves and twigs and other detritus from clogging your intake.

Not sure about the big hole, do others have a bung in there? If its after the filter you could aspirate ****, if before it's in case the main intake blocks.

It won't make a noticeable difference to the temp of the air or the quantity I wouldn't have thought.
