Hi I have a 2007 Audi A4 s-line which has started giving me a dead battery when left over night.

I have noticed that when I alarm the car after about 30 seconds the car should go into sleep mode.

Sometimes this is the case and the car will go to sleep fine.

Sometimes the car will go to sleep then after a couple of minutes it will wake again, and sometimes the car will just not go to sleep at all.

When I say go to sleep, what I mean is if I sit inside the car and alarm it using the keyfob after about 30 seconds the warning hazard triangle switch and light switch selector lights go off.

What I have noticed is when the car doesnt go to sleep the warning hazard triangle switch and the light switch selector stays illuminated and the fan at the rear of the sat nav radio stays running.

One other thing that may or may not be related is that when I alarm the car I no longer get a beep.

Purchased and fitted a new hazard triangle switch from Audi dealer, so that can be ruled out ..

Has anyone ever come across this problem before.

    Thanks in advance.

Sometimes you can pin point a electric drain using a test light, depending on what issue it is.

If you disconnect the battery neg for 40mins, then using the test light place the clip of the tool on the negative battery lead connector, then clamp the test light tip on the battery negative post...
Next if the test light lights up there is a drain,
You then start removing fuses one by one until the light goes out..... once light is out, check the fuse and what it powers up and you will find the starting point to tracing the drain...

    Good luck

Thanks Grant for the quick reply,

Got a multi meter today and connected it in series with the Neg of the battery.

I have the radio removed because the fan at the rear of the radio was running when the car wouldnt go to sleep and helping to kill my battery.

So with the radio removed and the car supposed to be sleeping i was getting 1.191 Amps at the battery.

Pulled every fuse 1 by 1 and checked the amps reading on the meter.

I found 2 fuses with a bit of a drain. Fuse 1 Air conditioning (0.15A) and fuse 8 telephone (0.6a)

After removing these 2 fuses my drain dropped to about 0.6A when sleeping.

I was hoping with these 2 fuses out my problem would be sorted but car went to sleep then woke up again after about 30 mins ( hazard warning triangle lit up ).

Any ideas, the fuses I pulled are at the side of the drivers door , is there any more fuses hidden in the car or could it be a bad relay?

    Thanks in advance

    get a scan
might throw up codes for the alarm module and help you focus your efforts.

Sounds like the sensors are telling the car NOT to sleep.
Could you try disabling the interior sensors (the switch at the bottom of the driver door?)
