    Hello, everyone!

First I want to apologize for bad English!

I am the owner of Passat B6 2.0tdi whit engine BKP and I have a few problems I'm worried about.

First problem - when engine is cold - the engine shakes for few seconds and then the engine speed rise to 1100rpm and then drop them to 800rmp and then there's no problem. If I immediately turn off the engine and turn it on again - no problem.

Second problem - When driving and reaching 1600rmp there is a slight pull - at any gear.

There are no mistakes and mechanics can not determine where the problem is.

Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

My engine does the same when starting it up cold yet my previous BKP engine didn't do it. It's something to do with the inside of the engine I guess as my previous didn't do it even with the same external engine parts.

With poor idle on a PD TDI, the first thing to check is the injector balances and the torsion value to make sure these are within spec.

The injectors are checked and work correctly according to Vag com! Values must be close to 0 right?

Correct nearer to 0.00 is good on all cylinders, over +/- 0.50 but under +/- 1.00 OK but over not so good - also check the torsion value (0 is not always best but +/- 2.5 or less is usually good but each engine has a 'sweet' spot as far as the mechanical timing is concerned - mine is great at 1.49° but some even better at stranger values). Also check the l/h fuel consumption, group 015, I believe. Fuel consumption should be between 0.30 an 0.50 litre / hour at idle, nearer to 0.30 is better (especially if you've undone the cam adjuster bolts recently) higher than 0.50 is often over fuelling by the ECU as fuel injection is electronically controlled but can be brought down by tiny movements of the exhaust cam to adjust the valve opening times if the torsion value is good. I spent over an hour setting the valve timing after the last timing belt change but have a great balance now, a nice torque curve and plenty of power where I want it without losing mid to late 40s mpg (208k block and 88k head).

I have read many different theories regarding setting up a PD engine, timing, torsion values, VCDS readings etc. but have spent many hours 'playing' with different mechanical settings and seeing, through VCDS how the ECU reacts to these changes. I do not profess to know everything about this topic but know what has worked for my engine which has 208k on the clock, decent fuel economy, enough power to sprint off the line, overtake easily, low smoke values, nice ride comfort and perfectly even tyre wear. I've obviously done something right
