bought Allroader 2002 auto 10 days ago...never made it home had to be put on breakdown truck...taken to local garage...the car did not have flashing level on dash and sitting flashing at level 1 this did not appear till off loading from breakdown truck...noticed he hooked it underneath engine to hoist it on.. could this be factor. Also i take this leveling system is air and not compressed fluid?
    cheers for responses

It is air, we have one of our own and we did a rear air bag on an identical one this morning. It is a fussy and unreliable system that does not take kindly to rough handling and I suggest you get it to someone who knows the system.

Yes, the allroad has air suspension. Before you go spending loads of money try and take a look under the car. It could be something as simple as one of the plastic arms has become disconnected from the 4 levelling sensors, one in each corner. Just pop the ball back in the hole in the plastic arm and cable tie together. Does the air compressor run? Can you jack up the car to help the system inflate? You will need 2 jacks, 1 for each side. If you've only had the car for a few days then the airbags may be leaking. Again, jack it up on both sides and eventually the car will try to level itself. If your air compressor is knackered then you'll need a new one or rebuild it with Bagpipe Andy's rebuild kit. You can spray some soapy water around the air spring fittings and upper aluminium mount to identify leaks.

You really need a copy of VCDS to do your own fault diagnosis. There's so much info on this site and others. With some basic tools you can do most of the work yourself. Good luck.
