have the following under the bonnet of mt 2011 CC GT. VW say its not covered under corrosion warranty yet the paint is bubbling up from the panel rather than damage to the paint. Thoughts? WP_20180813_17_58_33_Pro.jpg

We are seeing a lot of hidden rot on later VW’s, I had a 2007 Golf 5 GTI on the lift last week and I showed the owner that if I pushed hard enough my finger would go through the boot floor and the chassis legs around the trailing links was in a terrible state plus the car had rotten front wings and blebs on every panel. Some early Golf 6’s are in a bad way and I have seen six year old A6’s with horrifying rust all over the rear chassis legs. From your picture I get the impression that bonnet is not original, is this possible, did the dealer check the paint thickness?

Dealer measured the paint depth - not sure what it was but they set off the details to VW but they turned it down though they didn't say why. I've been in touch with VW customer services and waiting to see what they say regarding the issue - either why they refused the issue via the dealer or what they say direct to me.

Will post an update when they eventually get back in touch

Dealer got back in touch today after I'd gone direct to VW on the issue. the offer is 75% goodwill with the bodyshop saying a new bonnet is needed as they won't paint over rust and that my contribution would be £250. I've missed the calls from VW so not sure if I can squeeze any more or not.

That is acceptable, it is a £1k+ repair retail so I would be happy just to pay for the part and I agree, painting over rust is daft if you don’t have to.
