Hi i have the esp light coming on at start up and goes off after a minute, it comes back on when brakes applied, after looking around on the internet i have come to the conclusion its the brake switch, i have found the switch and it is round on the end has purple tags on it, and when the tags are pressed in and they turn, the question i am asking is when the tags are twisted does the switch just pull out or does the body need turning as well like the old type switch. As i do not want to break it. Regards gary.

you need to get a scan done first

the car checks a few things before the car starts & after 8 minutes of running

before you replace the brake switch, which I think is ok, which is why you need to scan the car
    VW POLO 2002 1.2 12v , Audi A6 2006 2.0 TDi SE , Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDi

All 3 cars in the current fleet

Well I did the scan first and no fault codes came up, after looking on u tube and other web sites manly American, every body said it would be a short in the brake pedal switch sensor as it does not always through up a fault code, so i went to the Audi dealer the other day and ordered a new switch, the one with the purple/pink tags on it, it arrived today £21, i did not trust eBay as you never know whether its original or not. the cover was easy enough to remove only 3 screws, but the switch was a bit of a sod and with no instructions i forced it out and it broke as i removed it, 3 tags holding it in place, no turning or twisting, (special tool similar to a mini oil filter remover required to compress the tags) I popped the new one in connected the loom, started the car, no ESP light, just taken the car for a spin, still no light. ESP system on switch working perfectly. so yes it was the switch. Job Done. I hope this is some help for any other 2009 Allroad users.

Right. car worked for one day. and another light popped up on the dash, and then another it started to look like a xmas tree. so I took it to the garage who services all my other cars. He put it on the big boys scanner, well thats that, he said nice car, too many miles though, 143k big pockets are needed to keep this going, I told him what I had done, just changed the brake sensor switch, he said shouldn't of done that you have upset the 28 computers on this thing, he reset it, ok for 15 minutes and then the lights all came back, i had upset the ABS module which now needs to be removed and sent away to be set up, 2 of the glow plugs have stopped working, so that means all 6 and another brake switch I'm not going to see much change from 1k so to cut a long story short, if you see a light, take it to a garage, it doesn't have to be audi, but a 2009 allroad does not like to be played with, you have been warned.

you have a low battery it most likely needs to be replaced.

when the battery is no good you get alot of error codes across the Can Bus System.

The ABS unit is probaly ok.
