Send to car from Google Maps not working

You should find three screens that scroll across in the RED Audi app 1st shows the car and car details along with expense tracking (car icon) Second (drop pin ) shows map and stored sent destinations and search destinations and third is set up with your own details. Online you can (browser) go to your account on myAudi.com and go to car look to see if connected (!) click on it and you can see the connect services set up for your car. Should give you a view of what is working today?

Yep, agree with all that. And apart from downloading maps I can't see anything useful on the myAudi website. Clicking the (!) tells me I can use all my Audi Connect Services, of which there are none. No news, POI, twitter etc. And the MyAudi app is as you describe - i.e. not much use.

Yep I get the same but that is different to the screenshot on the app store which shows a lot more on the car. Albeit this is an A8 but given then have added Web Radio to the app I would have thought it would have appeared somewhere ...

Looks like you are on the new MyAudi web site. Same as I am.

So, today I tried the Audi Connect again, and found the following:

- you have to remove your car from the menu,
- you have to add your car again,
- you will get a new PIN code,
- you have to set it in the MMI menu,
- and voila', all your formerly stored addresses are there in the "Online destination" menu.

However, the online version remained totally useless, probably the IOS/droid version will work, but Audi definitely dropped the support of the online version.

I have never had a problem with the car retrieving the list of destinations from the online Destination option. Well I say occasionally the service would have a wobbly but a few days later it would be fixed.

I can add places through the Grey MMI Connect App but not via the PC and Send to Car ....

No they have not dropped it yet. They are slow writing the code for it see the reply (see below) I received some time ago. Note, the English is not perfect but you will get the gist of it. I spoke to him just before he sent this to me, so I know what he meant.

Thank you for your email in relation to the myAudi Portal.

The only way to send the destination to the car from google Maps to the vehicle is to link your google account to the myAudi Portal. This is a facility that has not transferred over to the new website. I have emailed our Administration Team who work the myAudi portal to see if they have an estimation of when this facility will come back onto the portal.

I have posed the question before and it seems this is the only way to send destinations to the vehicle. As there is no facility to link the google account to the myAudi portal at the moment, then this isn’t something that can be done. Once I have a response, I will email you and advise if there is any further information available.

Further to the above. I know it is not the same. but you can search on your android phone/tablet/Phablet on Google maps for an address and then share it with the myAudi app and send to car. Works every time for me. I find it pointless, but there again it works.

In summary. I think we can all agree that the MyAudi experience is, at the moment, not really much use apart from being able to download the latest maps (on newer models) and use online destinations (assuming you can get it to work). Much of the previous functionality has gone, with hopefully some coder(s) redoing the backend so we can get back to where we were before. But this is taking time with not really much information on what is actually going on or when it will be resolved. I'm sure there are many other Audi forums around the world all muttering the same as us. But all in all this is pretty poor by Audi. I feel a bit sorry for the dealers; no really, don't laugh - they must get so many questions about this and normally they haven't much clue about the tech. Now they have no chance.

P.S. I'm keeping the grey app for as long as it works (I wonder if the android apk exists somewhere? That would be really useful for others who haven't had the chance to use it).

I have to completely agree with this. I came from BMW and they were nowhere near as advanced as Audi. With the new Audi site it is a case of trying to fix things as they go along. My car would not work at all on the old site, so they put me on the new site as they were starting to migrate older users across to it. The one problem they have is that the support staff are not trained on stuff that is being written, so they are mostly confused with what they are confronted with. There is only one man in Customer Services who has some idea and he helps where he can.

Update on my 2012 A6 Destination Send to car capability. Currently after much dialog with Audi Customer Services in Sheffield I am back in business with Send Destination to Car from Google Map's and the OLD ? (Grey) Audi Connect App (which I was informed would be dropped in favour of the Red Audi app). The Grey app appears to be aimed at the US market when viewed on Apple's app store and was updated in September and appears on both the USA App store as well as the UK (is it cos we are English speaking) The (RED) Audi app appears to work ie I can find destinations to send to my car and indeed can see Destinations and addresses sent to my car HOWEVER when I try to download destination in the car I get the first line of the address only and no ability to navigate to the destination. I suspect the "red" app uses a different server to the "grey" app and still needs work. Upshot I have gone back to the "grey" app. and all works as well as it did new !

NB My apps are IOS
