By pure accident i found this feature so i thought I’d share it. I was trying to open the boot in the evening after it had gone dark. I thought I had my smart key in my pocket, tried the boot release handle twice and the lights came on! It doesn’t do it on any other handle just the boot and also not during daylight so I can only assume it’s some sort of courtesy lighting. I also thought it could be a warning to alert if someone was trying to open the boot but then why not sound alarm?

Anyone else seen this and perhaps know the reason behind it?

It is probably the kind of warning alert. I have the same function in my car. The lights come on when I press boot release even once. It works only when you leave the car with lights on auto mode.

    Hi Retom,

Do you have idea in which controller this function could be activated?

I have no idea. I was convinced that this is the standard option for every Q7.

Are you sure you don't have it? As SG77 described: car locked, lights switch on "on" or "auto", no keys in the car range. Pull boot release once or twice. Check also before if your entry/exit lights are activated in MMI. Perhaps this is needed.

    Hi Retom,

Checked today; Head lights on "Auto", Entry/exit lights activated, car locked, key far away, but still no change. I suppose it has to be coding issue.

I am afraid I can't help more. If I would know in which module it is coded I would check the coding in my car and let you know. Perhaps other Q7 owners present on this forum could help and suggest where to look.
