Ticking noise - 2.7 v6 tdi

Hi guys,

Im hoping you can shine some light on what maybe the issue. Bought my A6 2.7tdi and ran it for a couple of weeks. But then change the oil and filter on it using quantuam 5w30 507.00. Since then ive got a ticking noise from the right bank (or at least i think its only since doing the oil change - didnt notice it before). Sounds a quite light ticking. It appears louder from the centre of the cam cover - possibly injector??
You can notice at idle and speed increases with rev. Until about 2000rpm which is when it appears to disappear (or drowned out)


Just strange i didnt notice this before the oil change, cant see how an oil change would affect the injector.

Mine was ticking on the left bank, mechanic told me it was probably injector washer as he had Q7 in workshop with similar symptoms. Bought new copper washer for 3€, changed it myself (took 1.5h) and no more ticking sound.

What is it about the washer that made it tick?

Did you use a slide hammer to get the injector out?

No, i just wiggled it a bit and it came out. Car had 222k km and 1st set of injectors.

Sorted. All six copper washers and o rings done. No more ticking

The copper washers that came off we're in a really bad state. Couple were reasonable, couple were poor and 2 were really bad - thin on one side, crushed, had a slight lip on them.
