Can i please get advice as to whether its wise to use non VAG kits was thinking of purchasing a Dayco kit and First Line water pump?

Also can i get confirmation as to whether its every 50,000 miles, 80,000 miles or every 5 yrs?.

    Thanks in advance

When I had 1.9 pd engines I seem to remember the interval being 40k or 4 years, that was on 2004 touran and 2005 passat, does it not say in the service book? I bought the passat with 1.9 engine with 70 odd k and over 6 years on the belt and pump. Belt looked fine but there was some play in the pump bearings so probably due a change by then! If you're thinking about it you won't sleep sound until its done. I used VAG kits and pumps from TPS, pump was surprisingly cheap once old pump was returned for deposit, and the belt kit was comparable to others such as Dayco etc. Some reckon you should change the tensioner stud as well if the belt has already been changed a few times.
