If it's new since last Sept then I guess it will apply here. But mine did pass last Sept with the light.

And don't worry, we were forced to metric with our speed limits, and just this year I wasted a month of my live getting my business ready for GDPR

Update. Firstly, is this the MAF below? Seems had to find a pic of a 1.6 petrol to confirm. Plug has 4 poles and one part number I can find is PBT-GF40.

Assuming so, after reading elsewhere, I unplugged the MAF before starting the car this morning. No knocks and smooth idle. Was a bit 'flat' in places during drive but made it to work no problems. Will plug back in when car is cold on way home.

That is the MAF, yes but that's not the part number should be 06A 906 461B on a B6 chassis.

Thanks again for your help. I'm sure if I remove it i'll be able to see that part number.

I did Google that number and it returned a Ford part.

Same here. Maybe a common after market part? Or just a part of the MAF? Anyway I'll remove it when I can (tools in mother's house)

I would suggest if you buy a new AMM, buy it from Audi or TPS (do you have those) under the exchange part number 06A 906 461 BX

Hi, what's an AMM? What do you mean by "under the exchange part number 06A 906 461 BX" - will I get a discount off a new one by returning the old? I don't thing we have TPS here.

I just rang a local scrappy, then need exact p/n but seem hopeful they may have one. Given the age of the car I'd be happy with that.

Further update, I removed the MAF and that is the only part number on it, it's on the front and the back. See pic. No VAG branding on it. Appears to be a date from 2015 too. I got car in '16 so assume it was changed before me.

Anyway, after work I plugged it in again, engine rough and knocking/popping. Unplugged and started engine, all ok again.

When removing the MAF I found a broken pipe. Its about 3mm in diameter and is connected to the big hose that goes on the engine side of the MAF, could that be my issue?

    Update

Got a MAF from scrapyard yesterday (sorry, forgot to check part number but its off a Passat am told). Have done 2 cold starts with it and no popping noise. Also the engine warning light went off on way in to work this morning

Car still feels a little flat through the revs compared to before this happened. Might be in my mind though.

Planning a 100 mile trip (and back of course) at weekend - should I be ok?
