    Maybe somebody should mention GDPR

Yes likely to get the 2017/2018 or the 2018 maps but probably newer than what they have on at moment.

You probably not missing much with the 2018 maps. I have that at the moment and it still gets my street wrong and a few new roads(couple of years old now) around here not even on it.

The maps are always out of date by up to a couple of years but it's worth updating as new roads will eventually make in on there

I will update the maps once I'm settled with the car, got the sim card in and moved in so to speak. At the minute I just have it linked to my phone. BTW the phone box is still enabled on my car for the signal booster, I had heard they are to be disabled.
The maps are more up to date than the 2012 RMC I had in my last C7 so happy with them for now.

Why are the phone boxes to be disabled?

If you do a full map update for Europe you would need around 10-12GB of data or so. For UK only its around 1GB on your SIM. Hence it's much better to do it on a regular PC and use an SD Card.

Something about them picking up signals they are not meant to, so I read earlier in the year.

I have some good sized SD cards, can I use a USB dongle as I have the ports in the armrest? Cheers

I can't remember if it gives you the option to choose the USB as a source option as that would have normally been my preference too.

I think you only get free map updates for three years. If your car is a 2015, it may already have gone beyond the window for downloading updates

No you can always re download the last applicable update. (You could prior to the beta site update)

You can use a usb hard drive or memory stick to update maps. If I remember right mine didn’t allow this originally so had to be a sdcard so one of the updates gives it the usb ability.
