ok, just one major point of note. My car is a 6 speed manual as stated in previous posts. After more research it appears that the manual and tiptronic boxes have totaly different bearinges and flanges, so it looks like I am back to square one! At least the parts I bought were cheap. Can you confirm if your car is a tiptronic?

    Hi
Years ago I have similar problem with vibration on deaccelerating....
It was lose hose/pipe on turbo....
I was doing something that I had to remove turbo and when I put everything back together problem start....
    Same thing only in gear(manual).
Might b totally different problem then Yours, but its 5 min job to inspect turbo pipe...( one at the bottom left side of turbo....)

Thanks for the input! I will definitely check that as currently I am struggling to know what to do. Actually, for the last year or so I have noticed a louder than normal 'whooshing' noise when lifting off the accelerator under boost but as it was not affecting the drive in any way I didn't inspect it. I will try to get a look at this tomorrow and report back. Thank again!

Well, quick 5 minutes under the bonnet and everything looks normal. All hoses secure and nothing that looked unusual. The car drives and boosts perfectly anyway, so I guess this was probably unlikely.

My apology for leading U in to “wrong direction “....
It was 10 years ago when I own an Allroad.....
Once U mention “boost” I have my memory refreshed, and in my case I had vibration/jerking when accelerating after de acceleration in gear.....
    Sorry again for misleading......

OK, big update! I have discovered that the surging / pulsing / jerking (call it what you want) while decelerating issue is the result of......! As mentioned in my first post, when this issue happened I simultaneously heard a clicking relay noise from below the dash area. I removed the covers from there today and had a look and everything looked normal, but then I had a brainwave to remove fuse number 7 (10 amp) for the ABS system. On doing this (and as expected) a lot of warning lights related to ABS appeared on the dash, but during the 15 minute test drive afterwards the entire issue I had been having while decelerating had gone, also there was no clicking from below the dash!!!! So, it looks like I have narrowed it down to a component in the ABS system. Now the next step will need to be diagnostics with my VAGCOM to monitor the sensors etc while driving to see if I can figure out why the ABS is activating when decelerating. I'm going to guess that a sensor must be picking up some noise from the drivetrain, or perhaps a dodgy senosr or ring, or maybe even the ECU could be faulty, BUT at least I can now start looking in hopefully the correct place without stripping driveshafts etc from the car straight away. If anyone reading this has had the same or similar issue I am open to any comments or advice. Thanks,
