Hi all I have only had the above car a week and all is well apart from the light floaty feeling to the steering . is this normal I hope not it makes me feel a bit detached and not a 100% in control if you know what I mean . is this just a trait of the car that I have to get used to or is there a problem

Hi all I have been doing a bit of research regarding the light floaty steering I have on my a6 . and apparently there is a quick fix this involves removing the servotronic relay apparently doing this reverts the car back to normal power steering as if the car never had it on . great I think so start to look for the relay with no luck do any of you know where this relay is any info would be appreciated

Do the basics first - Check the tyre pressures, check the tread pattern for unusual / uneven wear, get the wheel alignment checked. If still not sorted after this then get it checked for worn suspension items like ball joints and shock absorbers, cheap tyres can also have poor 'directional stability'. My A6 has very 'light steering' but it totally stable in a straight line and doesn't need steering correction inputs to keep it on a chosen line. It as a bit vague and floaty when I first got it but that got fixed when I put some good quality tyres on it ( Goodyear Asymetrics)

Hi thanks for the reply . the car as four matching bridgestone Potenza run flat tyres on all have about 5mm of tread on them evenly worn . one thing I did notice when I checked the tyre pressures all are 41psi is that correct seems a bit high to me ? what do you think

Check the door card for the correct pressures but if they are too high this can indeed induce a 'floaty' feel to the steering
