    2011 2.0 tdi manual Touran

20 miles from our holiday destination the car slowed, the wiggly light came on (flashing) and then it picked up but only to 50% (limp mode I assume). We used the car a few times, less than 10 miles each time, and it didn’t happen again.
On the way back, after about 20 miles driving it happened again and rather than panic the wife, I just drove home.
I plugged in vagcom and looked at the OBD codes and it said P0641.
Like an idiot, thinking it would just clear the OBD codes I cleared before reading via the VW codes.

The P0641 seems to be ‘sensor reference voltage A’, is this common?
Is it likely to be a harness issue rather than a sensor?
Any direction what to check would be great.

This can be a problem with the harness to the boost pressure/air temp sensor, AKA “thrust sensor” in VW speak and there is a sensor harness overlay repair kit that should be taken directly into the ECU.

    Thanks Crasher.

So far the car has only been on a couple of short journeys and the code hasn’t come back.
Once it does I’ll read it, hopefully to clarify the issue a little

Code just won’t seem to come back!

Shouldn’t complain, but I know I’m going to get it in the neck from the good lady when it does pop up and de-rates the car while she’s driving on her own

Probably . Out Touran goes into limp mode if you try for too much turbo (accelerate up hill, etc). I'm fine with it and trip it one or twice a year. My wife dreads using the car in case it happens to her, as it did on a long haul up an incline in France when we first had the problem.
