    Hi all,

I recently buckled a wheel driving through Glencoe.
The other 3 were rough too so I decided to replace all four alloys, but kept the tyres.
The car still wobbled, albeit not as bad, with 4 new wheels.
Local garage replaced a tyre, I picked it up and it seemed fine UNTIL I got to 75/80 and the wobble comes back again.

Now, I kept an old alloy for a spare and had a brand new budget tyre put on it.
I’ve systematically replaced each corner’s wheel with the spare and it still wobbles.
Ive currently got the replaced tyre, and the new one on the spare as my two front wheels so I’m a bit baffled now why it’s wobbling?
It’s not the Quattro model, just fwd.
I’ve even been on motorways and built up speed, got the wobble, knocked it into neutral and it’s stayed so that rules out the box/flywheel doesn’t it??

    Help please lol

Suspension/wheel alignment out... needing adjustment? If you hit something bad enough to buckle a wheel.. then you could defo knocked alignment out.... or even bent some suspension parts. Needs checked out by a garage I think.

I thought that but it doesn’t pull, it doesn’t knock and it’s only once you get past 70.
I’d of thought if it was something like that it would be noticeable at lower speeds?
I’ll put it in the garage obviously just wondered if anyone could shed some light on why it might be from past issues

I take it the tyres and wheels have been balanced successfully, removing old weights beforehand? If so its on the car then. Something got between the face of the hub to disc or disc to wheel?

I presume that the alloy that you kept and fitted with the new tyre for testing purposes is sound..? .. and not affected by the bang your car got etc.. ?

The other 3 alloys were fine, they’re just scratched to **** haha

They were reps anyway, and I’ve replaced them with reps too.

And I’ve had all the wheels off and checked the hub faces etc and there’s nothing there.
I was worried it was something to do with the drive/transmission hence gonna cost me big bucks but if that was the case wouldn’t it disappear when in neutral?

Goodness me.. what did you hit? ... suppose there’s an outside chance that a transmission wobble would disappear when not under load...

Sounds like a difficult one that you rule out the obvious .. before getting some garage time for the more complicated teccy stuff...

Can you localise it? Ie does it come through the steering wheel or the back end get loose or anything? Does it stop or show under breaking?

It comes through the steering wheel.
As I do 100’s of miles on the motorway(up to Inverness and back for work)I use the cruise so my feet are on the floor not the pedals and I can feel it then as well.

As wet wet wet would say I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes.....

    Sorry.....

Braking doesn’t have any effect on it whatsoever so it’s not a warped disc or anything, I thought of that too.

It must be the suspension, just strange it’s only at speed. I’d of thought a bent component would be felt all the time?
