    Default Advice needed Polo 55 plate 1.4 Auto – 21-07-2018,10:46 AM
    Hi All
    I have just acquired a 2005 Polo 1.4 Auto with 67000 miles on the clock, it cranks but won't start.

    What I know
    Compression is ok
    No fault codes in engine
    ignition lights all ok
    plenty of petrol in tank
    getting a engine turning signal when cranking of 230 rpm
    removed plugs and couldn't see a spark on any when rested on top of engine
    it tried to fire up on easy start once or twice but this was intermittent
    Ive removed ecu to check for water damage in connectors and inside and its as clean as a whistle

    Any advice where to go from here please.......

    Got a live and earth at the coils? sounds like crank sensor is ok as it reads 230rpm. Smell the coils do they smell electricaly burnt?

    Has this engine got a camshaft sensor? What does that read in live data?
