    Hi!

I currently have my A6 Avant in many parts still as I am doing a full suspension replacement on the front. I am using my trusty ol polo 9n while its off the road so
while I am on I thought I may as well look at the brakes.
I had genuine Audi disks and pads that I replaced all round for ebay special 'Drive Tec' discs and pads, I flushed the brake fluid completely with very cheap brake fluid.
Now my brakes are cr@p, they stop and are not spongy but you have to stamp on the brakes to get it to stop. They have probably done about 10k now.
I'm guessing it's the pads that makes them poor and not the cheap brake fluid. I was going to just replace the front pads with Pagid ones see if that helps?
Does the seam sensible? I think the discs should be OK.

    Thanks

I had the same problem .
i use pagid now and a decent fluid .
it is probably air though .
I got advice at the time on the forum and I bought a compressed air bleeder . It made a big difference.
Also there is a particular order you need to bleed them in .

Can't see the discs being a problem but the special 'Drive Tec' pads are probably made up of an inferior friction material and less efficient than even the standard pads.

If the Drive Tec's are dedicated racing pads they will work better at higher temperatures while racing etc but will be terrible on a leisurely amble around town where they don't build up enough heat.

As mentioned, Pagid components are very good, been using them for many years without any issues.

As you say it seems it is the type of pad that is the issue, unless you contaminated the disc and pads with fluid whilst fitting which can glaze the pad and reduce effectiveness even after 10K. Would be good if you posted the result of fitting OEM or Pagid pads and how the old pads looked.
