Towbar differences: Normal vs. Air suspension

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at fitting a towbar to my 2006 A6 Avant which has Air Suspension/Level Control.

I'm seeing on a number of the aftermarket towbar manufacturers sites that they state "for vehicles without level control", or something along similar lines. In fact audi also has two different part numbers for the towbar, 4F9 092 155 B for regular, and 4F9 092 155 C "for models with air suspension".

So the question is... what is it about models with air suspension which make them unable to accept "standard" towbars? I can't find decent photos of 4F9 092 155 C, so I can't see what the difference is between that and the normal one.

I'm wondering if there's something that's modify-able to make a normal one fit.
