    Hi there,

I had this system fitted into my 2012 Golf this week, to replace the very basic RCD310 it came with. This system is expensive, but is meant to fully integrate with the steering wheel, dashboard display and the car's microphone.

I have the following issues, and my Alpine installer got stuck too.

    1. The car's microphone doesn't work. The instructions say to remove the hands-free kit's fuse to avoid conflicts - but I don't know how to find the fuse - any ideas? I tried just unplugging the box under the driver's seat, but it didn't make the microphone work.

    2. It is meant to integrate with the Navigation display on the dash. I enabled this menu using VCDS, but it doesn't work - it just shows the compass stuck at N.

The installer may have screwed up, or just not know enough, I'll try to find another one that knows what they're doing but in the meantime I'd like to try some stuff myself.

Any help with this appreciated. There is amazingly little information online about this system, considering its developed by Alpine specifically for the car, I thought it was just a brilliant answer to bring the car up to date.

Cheers for any help and guidance.,

    - Rob

Hello Rob, I have the same problem. I installed the Alpine i902D-G6 on my VW Golf R MK6. The original microphone does not work (premium). Did you find a solution?

Yes i did! You need to unplug the Bluetooth module under the drivers seat, then connect the wires as shown in the attached.

Overall I'm very happy with the unit, despite the expense.
However I've never got the auto dimmer to work, and am not sure if the navigation display is meant to work either. Would appreciate hearing how you've got on with it overall!

    The i902D-G6 is spectacular!
Despite the cost. I will do what you tell me. I'm frustrated by this inconvenience. I did not find any help. I'll tell you how it went with your recommendations. I thank you very much for your response.

Hi, I followed your instructions, but it did not work for me. Maybe, the last image of the attachment did not understand it correctly. Do you have to make any additional changes in the connections of the device itself?
    ————————-
In the i902-G6 model, the navigation system is not functional, we had to acquire the X902D-G6, since it is prepared for navigation (Tom Tom). The i902D-G6, only allows you to see Google Maps, but it does not guide you, on a route. On Wednesday, the 12th of SET will update the Apple IOS to version 12. Car Play, will allow to use the Waze application.

You should contact Alpine Support - they were very helpful to me. Good Luck!

I didn't want built in sat-nav, as I do not believe that is where the future is. I think the future is with Android Auto and Apple Car Play. I use navigation on my i902 every day, via Google Maps or Waze.

I don't understand why this superb head unit isn't discussed more on this (and other) forums - its a custom bespoke kit by a leading car audio manufacturer, designed specifically for the Golf 6 and Golf 7.
