Can you not just turn up at your local audi service centre and ask them nicely to tell you how much oil it should take?

In a way, sort of already done that, as I bought the parts and oil directly from Audi (TPS), against the vehicle's VIN number, and they said 7 Litres.
Do the service centres even need to know the capacity, as they use a VAS filling machine to pump the oil in until it overflows the fill hole?

I reckon the dealers don’t even measure how much came out. It would be open hole and catch it in waste oil bucket then leave it till it stops dripping.
Time is money in these places so they want to churn out as much as possible.

Half of 10L is 5L!! I think its going to be years before this thread is resolved, it's going like the 'which oil?' thread on the VW T5 forum, that now stands at 548 posts long!!

Can you run an air line in the fill hole and blow and see if more comes out the drain? There’s so many mechanical parts and coolers for oil to get stuck in. I think the 7l is for a dry fill like after a rebuild so changes could be a lot less.

That's exactly what I was hoping would be the case, I just need someone who can categorically confirm this, with the wet fill capacity. I would always expect the wet fill to be a bit less due to all the oil in the mechatronic and oil cooler, but 2.5 Litres seems excessive, meaning at oil change only 2/3 of the oil is changed.
As a side thought, could this be why the oil is changed at 40K, and not 80 or 100K?

Mine was changed at the dealer today - the invoice lists 5l of gearbox oil - mine is the 2.0 fwd so I don’t know if the capacity is different

    hope that helps

I used a gearbox specialist and I`m ex motor trade, plus I didnt want to do that lying on me back! Did you use VCDS and get gearbox temp up to (I think) 50`C and re-check oil level after shifting through gears? I`m sure I`ve read in my ELSA workshop manual that you never actually get the full amount out anyway.
I`d check you actually have enough in now, live with it, or, take it to a specialist and get it done and sleep well at night.
