If VAG had not done away with their excellent dynamic oil pressure monitoring system in circa 1998 then this would be much less of a problem, that early warning system saved a lot of engines from serious damage from 1983 when it was introduced. I watched a video about a chap with a fragged AMG V8 on which he rodded the block on the track, he found it had no oil pressure monitoring system installed, that is supreme engineering arrogance.

I did not know anything about that dynamic oil pressure monitoring system on VAG cars (that you mentioned). I found on internet how it functioned. It was realy one additional useful system and it is shame that all modern (even that AMG V8) engines rely on such poor sensor for oil pressure and do not have some sofisticated system to monitor oil pressure during entire rpm range. No need to have gauge but computer can monitore oil pressure and at least you could see it via diagnostic tool.

Should I instal additional oil pressure gauge?

It would be a useful thing but I do find that when people install aftermarket gauges they start to get obsessed about the reasons, it's why I prefer idiot lights for warnings, sort of ignorance is bliss. That AMG I mentioned I put it slightly incorrectly, it does not even have an oil pressure switch! You can just imagine some up his own **** German engineer thinking "vee arr soo gut at dis dat ve do not need an oil pressure switch because ve are German"
