Hello, I just an a Q7 '07 keyless model with 1 key. Dealer (in France) wants €231 for the key and €95 for coding. I understand they just order keys from factory to the VIN number (key cut). But is the coding the transponder learning/matching or this already done at the factory? ie could I just purchase the key and use VCDS/method for learning the remote RF lock functions. I have a spare 3 button remote, could get a blank ID48 chip and a key cut for €15 but I guess if I ask Audi to code that, they're likely to refuse? Any alternative routes I can consider? thx

In THEORY VCDS can program in a new key IF you have the so called SKC code or PIN code which are different things. In practice I have never been able to do this in 20 years of using VCDS even in the most basic of VAG immobilisers and have had to rely on external help. I now have the full dealer level VAG diagnostic system which is hell to get tied into so I can only see you putting yourself in the hands of a “man in a van” or the main dealer.
