So yesterday I had a spare hour so finally got my load fixing kit retrofitted in the boot. No more rattling shopping bags!

    Handy little addition.

Here are some pics of the install.

    Cheers.

    Andy.

Hi Andy, was it difficult to do? I know you mentioned ‘spare hour’ but you are a bit of a pro when it comes to striping down your baby 🙂.

I had a fixing kit in my Passat and Superb and they were handy although I used to keep getting little stones stuck in the rails.

So is a case of removing some trim, removing the mounting points and then installing the bars and reassemble or is there more to it?

Also where did you get the kit if you don’t mind me asking.

    Looks good 👍

    Hi Milesunder,

No worries. Yes, essentially its basically removing trim, fitting some new trim which accepts the rails, then the rails themselves then putting the trim all back.

I get most stuff from ebay second hand (Germany/Poland etc) but some parts aren't on there so have to get direct from my local dealer. So a bit of both really.

    Cheers

    Andy

I'm definitely interested in that, especially as my dealer told me that it couldn't be retro-fitted. Do you know if the extra room that the 48Volt gubbins takes up prevents this on an SQ7? Thanks

Anything can be retrofitted... if you know how (and most dealers don't or are restricted to even try)

Yep, Load Fixing Kit is supported in Q7 / SQ7 and E-Tron.

Well my first true retrofit is done - courtesy of none other than our resident Master Andy.

Normally it would be scary seeing your car like this

But Andy is superb at doing what he does that actually I was more intrigued in what was happening and what was being uncovered.

All completed easily in less than an hour

    Big thanks Andy

    Cheers Nemo.

Great feature to add and hope it comes in useful for you!

    I really like this feature.

I already have the side runners fitted in my 5 seater E-tron.

Can someone tell me where I can get the load area fixing kit cross bars? I have tried googling.

    Cheers

Absolutely brilliant Andy, thanks a lot.

Just ordered the fabric bar off EBay for £80 plus £16 postage from Poland.

    Cheers
