I've been tryng to oil my tailgate hinges over the years, but it's obviously not working as it is stiff and squeaking like crazy, and getting worse.

There's so much trim that I can't see where to direct the lubricant.

Is there a technique or do I just need to take all the trim off to do it properly?

Eventually I bit the bullet and pulled off the trims for the hinge swan-necks. That gave me room to spray white grease onto where I thought that the hinge pins probably were.

I don't know if that was right but it seems to have helped. However I've thought that before...........
