Yes coincidences happen, imagine if you were a garage and this happened, how would you explain it? Anyway the whole thing boils down to the bloody EU and their insistence on cats over other methods of emissions reduction. The problem is that cats hate metal anti wear additives such as Zinc (specifically ZDDP) so flat tappet cams go ouch but the cats purr!

Ah yeah I get that, good old finding causation via correlation, just cos it happened at the same time doesn't mean one caused the other! It's sat on the drive uninsured at the moment, I'll either get round to fixing it, or someone will buy it for very little, fix it themselves and have a great car.
