Hope some techs that have done this kind of work might be able to chime in and help

Having watch the discussions regarding Oil pump failureswith the B7 does this problem affect the B8 CAGA engine? as summer is here and I don't mind getting a bit grubby if needed.

    From what I can see there are two types of oil pump fitted tothe CAGA engine the 03G 115 105 H with a 77mm 03G 115 281 F follower drive shaftand the 03G 115 105 G with a 100mm 03G 115 281 E follower drive shaft.
My understanding is that anything with a 77mm drive shaft oilpump will fail at some point is this true? If so can this pump simply be substitutedwith the later 03G 115 105 G with a 100mm 03G 115 281 E follower drive shaft or are there problems associated.
What is the general OEM pump Audi use Febi, SWAG

Also from what I can see there is no mention of replacement boltsneeded for this job, is this true or are some of the bolts a onetime use.

    Many Thanks.

Hi and thanks for the info, I have the 77mm unfortunately but will the
    03G 115 105 G with a 100mm 03G 115 281 E follower drive shaft fit in its place or is some modifications required.

Thank you, so looking at it, it is the balance shaft and not the pump that needs changing is this correct. I was under the assumption it was the pump side that failed which would have made life a little simpler.

It's primarily the #2 balancer shaft keyway issue as it's not hard or deep enough and perplexingly not hexagonal to receive a hexagonal bar !

As the keyway wears the key has too much free movement and also begins to wear until the drive is lost .

The oil pump cassette itself is reliable .

Thanks for the info Gaz bit more than expected but a job that I must get done soon.
Looking on Erwin I see what has to be done to remove sump and balance shaft assembly but do you know if the crankshaft sprocket has to be removed, all I can see on erWin is to lock camshaft hub with diesel injection pump locking pin , then remove sump and balancer shaft assembly is this correct?
Also if you know any tips that might help I would be grateful.

    Thanks again for your help.
