    Hi folks,

In a nutshell; please can somebody tell me the exact location of the alarm siren on the A6 C6 Avant?

My A6 normally chirps when I lock it; this stopped happening a few weeks back.

Earlier this week when I was having new tyres fitted; the car alarm was activated... flashing hazard lights all round but total silence - I presume the alarm siren unit has failed.

I've read the most common cause of the alarm siren failing is the battery backup cells leaking / corroding the circuit board. I bought a 2nd hand replacement from eBay for 10.
I intend to do this mod to ensure the battery will be good for a few years: Audi A4/B6 Alarm Siren - Replace NiMH Batteries | Audi-Sport.net

I watched this Russian vid showing where the alarm siren is and how to remove it:
    ✅ Audi A6 C6 Alarm Horn repair video. 🚘 *емонт Штатной Сигнализации H12 ⚒ КАК СНЯТЬ СИ*ЕНУ - YouTube

The problem is; it all looks totally different in my scuttle panel, being a RHD. I can't see the alarm unit anywhere! Can anybody advise where it is please / what I need to remove to get to it?

    Thanks in advance
    Al

I found mine in the front left of the rain tray, tucked under the windscreen. It's right in the corner, behind the black plastic box that contains the ECU. Not sure if yours will be in the same location. Mine's a 2006 Avant.
To take it out I took the top cover off the box to aid access, but I can't remember if it was doable without removing the lid. Clean all leaves and dirt in the area before opening the box lid.

Thanks kindly, I appreciate your reply.

So it's in under the far corner of the screen on the passenger's side? (assuming South Africa is RHD too?)

Did you have to take off the plastic panel that goes under the windscreen wipers, or just the main scuttle panel?

    Cheers
    Toff

    Yes exactly, we're RHD too.

I do believe I had to take the panel under the wipers too, but you can just check access first. Certainly it will be easier if you take that panel off, but then it's wipers off too and that annoying lip which lips into the base of the windscreen support. It's only held in by one M8 nut if I remember correctly.

Thanks kindly. I hate taking the wipers off... last time I did that, I cracked my windscreen.... but I do have three legged pullers this time!

I will post up photos of the job
