Manual gearbox oil

The oil I suggested is widely used in many a marque and is present in my Passat gearbox .

It's a given...

Oem would of been 75W-90 , Fuchs G 052 911 version is
75W-80 that will provide smoother changes especially from cold and better mpg.

This by no means is **** thin as VAG have been using
G 052 171 which is a 70W75 since early 2000's in 8L S3 , Passat B6 etc and these aren't problematic gearboxes .

Everything oem can be improved on - remapping , suspension , brake pads etc .

That seem logical. But, in my country I did not find Fuchs, I can choose from Liqui Moly, Swag and Febi. That oils are avilable right now in my city. I can order Ravenol as well, it can come in 1-2 days. The prices of these oils are around 10€ per liter. Anyhow, thanks for explanation Gaz, for sure that some things in car can be improved with aftermarket stuff.

In that case go for the Febi 40580 .

Yesterday I changed the oil in my gearbox. First time after 9.5 years and 245685km. I used Ravenol VSG 75w-90 full synthetic oil. According Elsa specification, in my manual gearbox (01X, JWS code) going 3 L and I found 2.8L.

I would not recommend a 75W90 in this country and find it hard to understand why they hung on to G 052 911 for some models past 2010 when others had thinner G 052 171 70W75 since early 2000's .

I recently recommended a G 052 171 for a 2004 that required G 052 911 with great success !

My country is specific, it is small country, I could not choose oils as I want, only what they offer and the offered oil is not recommended by the brand of the oil that they sell. On the end, recommendation of oil from Ravenol site found in my country by representative.
