Basically the extra weight has a four fold effect on rebound damping , big heavy wheels & tyres require extra damping of uprated dampers ( Bilstein B6 / B8 ) .

Hense lower profile tyres are often blamed for the loss of ride quality , but it's not the only dynamic at work...

Retaining used 60K + original dampers is the Pikey method .

Also poorer mileage and slower acceleration/ longer braking but...... they look great 😄

It's enough to feel through the bum dyno , but some people don't notice .

Noticed in my old car that I used to track going from 18-17. Not just comfort but the overall going and stopping. Even going bigger using lightweight forged wheels there was a difference cause the mass has been moved further out.
If I remember right the old Honda Civic touring car had 15/16 inch wheels and the road going type r had 17in. There must be a good reason the racing cars had smaller wheels.

Just been on the phone to drift works and they have said not to go for staggered config because the quattro doesn't like it. Can Anyone confirm? He said I'd need to put 10's or 8.5s all round, but the id need to check that I have room to accommodate ye additional 25mm out toward the arch.

Yes quattro will be unhappy , keep the same , even tyre tread depths have to be similar for quattro .

Cheers, Will do.do you think the 10" ET40 will be ok for my car or too wide? current stock setup is 20 x8.5 et 45 i believe.

Actually, driftworks are now saying staggered will be OK so long as I go for the following. Anyone agree?

for a Front 20x8.5 et40 i would use a 245/35/20 and on the rear 20x10 et40 i would use a 275/35/20,

This will give a rolling radius difference on 3.25mm which is nothing to worry about!
