Just recently moved to VW and so far I’m impressed. Just a couple of issues I have with the car. The rear discs need replacing and the car has hill assist which works very well.

Now when I pull the handbrake it feels very hard like it’s sticking but it holds the car. There isn’t a lot of meat on the pads and the discs are scored so I was wondering whether the operation on the handbrake will improve when I change the docs and pads.

I can’t find a how to for the replacement so I’d be appreciated if there is something or similar car share the same system.

Is it Electric Park/Hand Brake or conventional cable? Calipers seize.

Electric Park/Hand Brake do go faulty. You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.

It’s manual as far as I’m aware and the car has hill assist so I assume the brakes get used some more. They have calipers but I’m not sure if the rear pads have sensors on them for brake wear. Don’t have any messages as of yet and I also don’t have vagcom or vcds. Was looking to get something called obd11 but not much out there for that.

You may find the rear calipers are faulty and/or the carriers corroded and the Mexican built cars can be more prone to corrosion issues on the running gear.
