Apple finally allowing more apps in CarPlay

Probably mentioned somewhere else on this forum but I think it deserves a spot here in the Q7 section as well.
Finally, Apple is allowing 3rd party map and navigation apps to be used in CarPlay. I haven't used CarPlay much but I like the idea of having Waze running on the MMI screen while having the regular navigation in the virtual cockpit screen. Coming with iOS12, probably in September.

Hopefully, but I’m half expecting we get that useless compass on the VC. Might need a new car too

Had a play with google maps on CarPlay today. Seems okay but still stuck with the stupid compass in the VC and nothing in the HUD.

Sounds like Waze is coming in a couple of weeks time which I could see myself using on trips where I know the area but want the traffic info.

Tried using Waze via CarPlay yesterday - worked initially but then kept disconnecting ..... so no use at all

Probably worth waiting to see how it is once iOS 12.1 is released in a couple of weeks.

Had a few apps break since upgrading to XS Max and iOS 12 but most are already fixed.
