Hi , I gather the new MOT is stricter , particularly on any visible exhaust smoke. Has this been an issue for anyone renewing a 3l diesel Quattro ? My MOT is due mid July. Not sure if it has a DPF , but I have never removed it or tampered with it, if it has one.

Lucky , the default halves to 1.50 1st July 2008 however it will go off the lower vin plate value , you need both this and your old mot smoke blows to form the situation .

Thank you LynallDiscovery . Unfortunately I’m a serial worrier basketcase and cannot help worrying about things, lol ! Do mean standard when you say “std” ? ie. no modifications?

Gazwould, on the gov website , it says “First used on or after ...”. To complicate matters , my A6 was purchased from Audi as a pre-registered Audi-approved vehicle. So although it’s date of first Reg was March 2008 and I believe I am the first owner , I actually purchased it in the Autumn of 2008. Going off the MOT anniversary date , I think it must have been 1st Sept 2008.

So I am not sure where I would stand so far as “First used on or after ”.

The default is used only if the VIN plate value is not there or the VIN plate value is higher than the default and with VAG they tend to be lower , albeit inconsistent .

So as before what is your VIN value and what does it blow as a mean value in the test ?

    Thanks Gazwould.

I won’t have access to the car for a few more weeks unfortunately so cannot check the VIN value just yet. Where about would you expect the plate (that has the value displayed) to be in a A6 C6 ?

Yes std = standard ie no mods.

Mates 2008 range rover passed recently, egrs blanked and chipped up, the tester went off the vin and it was the older 3.00 reading, it still passed with no effort and was below the tighter 1.50 so even if it was slightly later he would still have passed.

Blanked /disabled egr's causes less combustion engine soot .

The default Vs VIN are all over the place .

    2003 1.9PD 3.00 default , VIN 0.60
    2012 1.7 CRDI , 1.50 default , 0.52 ( dpf equipped )
    2009 1.8 tdci , 1.50 default , 1.75
    2008 1.9 PD , default 1.50 , 1.00
