    Hi Guys
Recently suffered turbo failure which caused engine to rev uncontrollably(run on oil) . Would like to check for any engine damage by carrying out compression test. Any ideas what compression should be . AND has anyone else experienced this .Thanks in advance.

From my ageing memory, compression for a 2.0 common rail should be in the approximate range of 360 to 500 psi, the higher the better and no lower than around 300 psi. Maximum variance of around 75 psi between cylinders (the less variance the better unless they are all very low). Typically 400 psi is an ok reading, around 28 bar, but 500 is better, around 34 bar.

Feel free anyone to revise my above estimations.

It doesn't look to good I'm only getting 20bar which is around 290psi. Just waiting for a new tester as I'm not confident in the one I used.
