    Hi All,

My wife tried to start the car this morning and apparently it’s dead as a dodo, won’t even turn over but all the dash lights flash. She was using it fine yesterday with no probs and parked up in our drive without issue.

Coincidentally, our neighbour knocked today to say that their car had been broken into overnight and so had others on our close.

Is this just coincidence or have they buggered something up on our car? My wife also said the key got stuck in the ignition, she googled it and got the key released using a paper clip.

I do hope that this isn’t going to be expensive as I’ve only had the car 6 months and love it. To add to my worry the warranty that was supposed to be transferred over with the car wasn’t and they will not now honour the remaining policy!!!!

Please give me some good news on what the issue may be. We’ve had home start out and they tried jumping the car but it’s being stubborn and refusing to start still!!!

    It’s a 2010 3.0Tdi Le Mans.

    Thanks

    Mike.

    Hi,

Quick update as I’m now home! I’ve tried the car myself and it really is dead!! Central locking isn’t working - even when using the key in the door, it doesn’t turn over at all BUT there are lights permanently on on the dash, even without the key in the ignition.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Mike.

Try to disconect battery and connect it again after 5 to 10 minutes.

Did they (thefts) enter the car is there any sign of broken thing, check luggage inside on right side where are electronics for central convenience if they have broke something.

No, no sign of any damage or indeed entry, just must be a huge coincidence.

Just had it towed to the garage, no update yet 😩

    Cheers

    Mike

They’ve replaced the battery and it’s up and running, just clearing all the fault codes now. Still no idea what caused all this!?

Why would low voltage simply occur overnight, leave random lights on the dash, get the key stuck in the ignition and leave fault codes everywhere without any warning that the battery had low voltage - would a warning light not appear on the dash prior to everything dying?

And why would it not jump start? Just trying to understand why a low voltage battery could cause such havoc.....!

Low voltage get moduls to malfunction. Simple like that. Jump start, I had scooter that gives same symptoms as your car when battery is low, you need to let battery charge a while and then to start otherwise scooter will give no sign of life until the battery is charged a little bit. If battery is completely dead no way to start scooter until you change the battery.

There is so many moduls in car and if voltage is not correct they cannot function properly and communicate between them. Modern car are controled by computers and you cannot start them as old ones. That is my opinion.
