Power Tailgate not working

My wife is reporting that the boot won't open or close.

She says it is Just making a whirring noise. She opened it this morning and did think it make an odd noise when she closed it, but thought no more of it. On return she says it looked slightly open and refused to open, and she can’t open by hand or key or button on door.

Any thoughts?

Is it closed now? There is an emergency release catch I think on the inside if you climb into the rear under the emergency triangle slot.

As for it not opening. Sounds odd. Check the striker area where the lock meets the stainless steel isn't blocked. Pull the fuse for the tail gate too to reset the trunk module and see if it springs to life.

Sorted it when I got home. Was unlocking but not opening, so had to lift it manually to get it fully open. Then did find half a crushed garibaldi in the boot latch! Once removed, it closed with the button (although with a bit of a thunk - think it needed to recalibrate itself) - but now opens and closes as it should.
