PRNDS flashing when parked and Gear stick stuck at P

can anybody help and give a right steer? I did the scan on last Saturday because the car gearstick was stuck in P and all the letters “PRNDS” were flashing so here is the scan

I have a VCDS cable and clear the code from then it is fine but I have read on the forum the fault will come back

Can anybody advise me what do I need to do?

you need to check your battery first.

it's most likey on it way out.

And something is saying water ingress in boot to me, new battery, code it in, make sure it is getting circa 14v at idle and if it is, clear all the codes and run it until it plays up and then read again.

Took my car to the garage and they said the gear stick and its assembly and linkage need to be replaced

I doubt that it is correct.

Your scan showed no faults, i would have expected to see a intermittant fault if the linkage or gear lever was faulty as the switches are part of this unit.

Finally I have got the car back from the garage and they have repaired the CVT ECU unit in the gear box and the car running fine. Ran the scan again today and the faults has gone Happy days
