Installed windows update last night and now computer is not playing. I get to log on without a problem but as soon as I type in password and hit enter a few seconds later my screen just starts to flash on and off and I cannot enter anything.

Try booting the computer in safe mode and see if you can re-install the graphics driver, or if you have Windows 10 see if you can initiate the Automatic Repair Mode.
