Started getting poor FM radio reception (no DAB on this older version of this unit even in a Match 'Tech' spec car...) a few weeks ago on the RNS510 in my Golf Mk6 (2011). VCDS sweep revealed 00821 and 00856 codes which points to left side aerial amplifier or at least connections. Looking at info on line there are notes about the loom and connection problems rather than amplifier problems.

Anyone got experience of this i.e. more likely to be 5K0035552A amplifier or the loom it connects to? I've read that checking to loom effectively damages it so it needs replacing anyway...

Took some advice at the dealer (as no forum response :-( ) and as when I stripped it all down there was no sign of any fluid leak from the door seals of the window washer I've gambled £31 on a new aerial amplifier (5K0335552A). Now fitted and all seems good in the world again.
