    Hi,

I own a passat cc 2011 2.0 TDI gt blue motion

My glow plug symbol started flashing and went into safety mode it seems to be intermittent because light is off again and has driven normally, tried to book in local VW garage but earliest was 8th of may. I had diagnostic done at local garage and results are attached (picture).

    codes were

    P040300 Exhaust gas recirculation circuit
I have read up and apparently this could be the egr valve? Can this be cleaned or need replacing? If it can be cleaned any videos or instructions I could look at and how easy is it todo?

U015500 lost communication with instrument panel cluster control module
i have no idea what this is and garage didn’t explain very well

thanks in advance for any help

    Ross

You will need a new egr, they are as reliable as a pensioners erection. Dpf needs removing and steering and subframe and os driveshaft. Part is around £320 plus vat and labour 5 hours. Longer if you take it to someone who has never done one before.

Ps if you have had the cheat software update you might get it done for nothing from vw dealer.

Egr's and dpf are only fit for the bin .

Pensioner's.... more reliable as Viagra is available to them .

Thanks for the bad news lol.

I read online the EGR valve can be cleaned? Is this not possible with my model car?

As fault is intermittent is it worth trying Forté advanced diesel treatment?

U015500 - what is this code all about or is it linked to ERG valve?

Annoyingly the emissions letters didn’t get to me as I purchased around the time people were being contacted and previous owner didn’t forward on. I have spoke to vw and basically told me to F off I got no chance as I haven’t had the update done.

    Thanks for reply’s

These EGR valves suffer from condensation inside the lid and this shorts out the circuits moulded into the lid and sends the car nuts, it can sometimes cause a crank speed sensor fault code which is a red herring.

Wouldn't waste a bottle of forte on it. You have a circuit fault so its most likely a solenoid valve fault on the egr like crasher said with condensation. Dont buy non genuine parts either as they are even worse than factory unit.

Replace the valve with a genuine VAG part or from the original supplier which is probably Siemens VDO. Removal of mandated emissions control systems is illegal and immoral.
