    I have read that + terminal getting hot is common on a6 and simple fix will sort this . Drive in a screw in from what i read it fixes for a lot of people

    Check the cable down to the alternator as if the cores go hard then this be the source of the resistance if you cannot find an insulation breakdown.

    Niedzial1983, the terminal has gotten hot as the cap has melted.

    So, I just drive a screw directly into the cable? How is this meant to work? I presume it spreads the internal cores, and makes a better contact? I doubt it’ll do much for my voltage loss though? Do you have any links to other people/threads with this problem?

    Yes . Exactly in that place like on the pic. Its helps secure and connect the top of the cable to the botton after the 90 degree bend . The lose connection there is causing the heating
