Side Window Wind Deflectors - installation problems

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum having recently got back into an Audi after 8 years, having had a MkI Q7 previously, and decided to get a low mileage used MkII.

I have bought genuine Audi wind deflectors (parts 4M0072193 and 4M0072194) which are specific for the MkII. However I have failed miserably when trying to fit them to the front (not tried the back yet). They fit, but the windows will not go up, or if they do they retract automatically as though hitting an obstruction, or if they do go up further the electric window motor starts to complain and grinds to halt half way. The issue appears to be related to the front pillar near the door mirror where the gap for the window is quite tight, with the deflector edge thickness narrowing it even further.

Does anyone have any experience with these, if so can you offer any advice other than to throw them in the bin.

Hi All,

I've dug a bit deeper and have found out why I am having problems.

Whilst they are genuine audi parts designed for the MkII, they are apparently not suitable for models with insulated glass, which my Q7 has .

Wish I had known that before I bought them !!
