the part number was 4F0 051 510 AC

    It has a white sleeve

Thanks Julian. I definetly owe you a beer!

Just to make sure I've understood...I get an error message with no cable plugged in, I've rebooted the MMI system a few times and still get the issue. So, looks like I am running an old version of the AMI software, which might be the cause of that problem...(maybe its not high enough to work with 5570?)

Fix 1: I think the only way to update AMI sw is either to splice in the cd player (run both cd and AMI to get it to update it) or find someone who has vcds and can do the update via OBD port?

Wrong cable issue.. assuming I fix the first issue...

Fix 2: I've already got a Q coded cable - but not tried it with a USB stick, so I'll try that.... (I have got an old 30 pin ipod touch that I tried without success, but I've got a USB memory stick too). Am I right to assume just dump MP3 format tracks on the memory stick?

Cancel that! Tried the q cable, this time with a memory stick - and it worked a treat!

Haven't worked out how to do playlists or why the iPod didn't work (might try plugging a different USB 30 pin cable into the q cable USB). But for now, it works!

    thanks julian much appreciated.

The iPod won't work with a regular USB AMI cable. You need to get a 30 pin Apple AMI cable.

    Cheers!
