    Hi All,

I am hoping someone might have a gemof info that can assist.
My wife has a 2005 A6 and it’s beengreat, until a recent trip to a garage to investigate an engine noise. She got the car back, and when she put thekey in the ignition a warning on the dash said something about ignition lockerror. She went back in and toldthem. They came out and it wentaway. Thinking nothing of it she drove home. When she got back she found she was unable tolock the car via the remote. No matterwhat she pressed nothing.
I took a look when I got back andthe car wouldn’t lock or unlock via the remote. Thinking the coding must be out of sync I did the door lock trick andignition button pressing, finally I could get the car to lock and unlock withthe button.
Come the morning, she opens the carwith the remote, drives off and then finds when she gets to work she can’t lockit. So locks it with the key, and whenshe comes to open the car it won’t open via the remote. No ignition error anymore, but it won’t open.
She drives home, I look again andwith the key in the ignition and the button pressing, I can restore the remotelocking. I take it for a 2 min drive getout and it won’t lock or unlock?
We’ve taken it back to the garage, who are not being all that helpful. VCDSdoesn’t show any errors on the module, however I can’t get into the centrallocking module, and I’m not 100% sure if I should be able to.
    Any advice, tips, very welcome.
    Many Thanks,
    Iain

Like all modern VAG cars the electrics can drive a garage to distraction, I have had a week of it on my own and other garages cars such as TWO Touareg losing their parking brake ECU coding, an A3 losing its ABS coding for no reason overnight in the workshop and all sorts of bonkers happenings that make no sense. To work on the car your garage may have done the right thing and disconnected the battery whilst doing something, the trouble is this can create havoc such as remote code synch loss, it will lose one shot window settings and all sorts. Once on an early 4F I did a new alaternator which means disconnecting the battery. After, I had all sorts of pain but the worst part was the parking brake ECU went loopy and died. The problem is most garages do not have a huge understanding of computer electronics and the equipment can be expensive. I need a new dongle for the latest ODIS update for doing software updates and I have this coming tomorrow, £709 +VAT.
