    Hi All,

I bought an 2002 A6 1.9TDi. The front seats were very worn and dirty so I took the (very nice) seats from my old 1998 A6 2.5TDi and have fitted them instead.

When re-attaching the connector blocks under the seat, I have a problem. The '98 seat airbag connector - its colored yellow and purple - is 2-pin only (blue and brown wire). Whereas the floor harness airbag connector in the 2002 car has a 3-pin airbag connector (green and white and brown wires).

I did this a few weeks ago. All other functions work i.e. seat tilt button. But obviously I have an airbag warning light on the dash and I need to sort it with MOT coming up soon. I have done a lot of searching on the net but cant come up with a firm idea on how to attach the 2 pin block to the 3pin block. I need to know which 2 to attach to each other. Some reports say that brown always is earth so at least I can connect those 2 to each other. But whatever I do I will have 1 wire left unconnected on the 3pin block.

If someone has a wiring diagram that might help me I would be very grateful!

And before someone suggests - I have binned the '02 seats so I cant put em back in just to get past the test!

    Many thanks for any help

    Just to close this off.

I got great help from Crasher and passed my MOT (NCT) with no issues.

What I needed to do was match up the wires according to the number on the wiring block. You have to look VERY closely at the block to see the numbers, you might even need a magnifying glass! So using this I was able to attach the correct 2 wires (numbered 1 & 2) to the 2 corresponding wires on the block from the floor harness. I soldered the connections and used heat shrink sleeve over this. I taped off the 3rd wire.

Then hooked up the VCDS, got rid of the fault codes and voila! my prob was sorted.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Crasher!!

Hi please may I ask what colour wires they were that you connected together.

I have put some Vauxhal seats in my a4 but they have a brown n blue airbag wire, from the car it has the green, white and brown, being Vauxhal seats I'm not to sure if they would have the nubers on them the same way round

    Many thanks
    Jake
